In Singapore, the first Singapore Poetry Slam™ kicked off on May 27, 2003 and has continued once a month since then. This was the first regular ticketed event in Singapore with a $10 entry which has helped give more professional dignity to the literary arts in Singapore, a trend followed by The Singapore Writers Festival and now many more spoken word events.
Word Forward Limited (WF), the founder of Poetry Slam™ and Spoken Word in Singapore, continues to attract the general public to these monthly unique literary night outs here in Singapore since 2003 by making each event fresh and vibrant. The programme includes an open mic, feature item and a three-round slam competition with cash prizes.
